Omaha Hi/Low: General Outline
Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is commonly seen as one of the most complex but popular poker games. It’s a variation that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites action from all levels of players. This is the main reason why a once invisible game, has increased in popularity so amazingly.
Omaha 8 or better begins like a regular game of Omaha. 4 cards are given out to every player. A round of wagering follows where players can wager, check, or fold. Three cards are given out, this is referred to as the flop. A further round of betting ensues. After all the gamblers have in turn called or folded, another card is revealed on the turn. a further sequence of betting follows at which point the river card is revealed. The entrants will have to put together the strongest high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.
This is where many players get flustered. Contrasted to Texas Holdem, in which the board can make up every player’s hand, in Omaha Hi-Lo the player has to utilize exactly 3 cards on the board, and precisely two hole cards.
